Pete Hegseth also commented on the negotiations between Trump and Putin.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth admitted the possibility of the return of Ukraine's borders that existed before the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. He stated this during a visit to Warsaw on Friday, February 14, RP writes.

Answering a question from journalists whether he sees the possibility of Ukraine returning to the borders that existed before the full-scale Russian invasion, the head of the Pentagon said that “anything is possible”. However, he does not believe in a return to the 2014 borders.

“My job was to bring a certain note of realism to our negotiations: a return to the borders that existed before 2014 is very unrealistic,” Hegseth said.

On February 13, US Defense Secretary Hegseth said that during Donald Trump's first presidency in 2016-2020, “there was no Russian aggression.” He also called any suggestion that Donald Trump is not negotiating with Russia from a position of strength a lie.
