(Updated) Dozens of Belarusians welcomed the prominent opposition activist.

Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, an activist of the European Belarus Civil Campaign, came to Vilnius. Dozens of Belarusians welcomed her with flowers, national flags, and chants of "Long live Belarus."

"I remained the same. Our struggle continues. My calendar still shows August 2020. We must finish the job, create a new nation! Long Live Belarus!" Palina told reporters.

Also, the activist of the European Belarus called for the fight for the release of political prisoners who remain in Lukashenka's prisons.

“We were subjected to constant torture. Constantly, since the fall of 2021, when we were first thrown into the investigatory isolation ward and cell-type rooms," Palina told reporters.

The activist of the European Belarus reported on the poor health of political prisoner Viktoryia Kulsha. Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk believes that her kidneys could have failed.

"Kulsha went on month-long hunger strikes multiple times, refused water, and even slit her veins," the activist said.

Kulsha is often thrown into an investigatory isolation ward and cell-type room, she almost does not go out into the fresh air.

"In IK-24, Volha Mayorava and Alena Hnauk remain. Their situation is really catastrophic. They need to be released," said Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk.

People chanted: "Long Live Belarus!" The well-known opposition activist said that "all these years behind bars, she imagined the moment when she would be met by Belarusians."

Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk was released on February 1. In fact, she spent more than four years in prison.

We will remind, the activist of the European Belarus was detained on January 3, 2021. On June 9, 2021, the Maskouski District Court of Brest sentenced her to two years in prison, after which she was added sentence terms several times.

Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk actually served four terms in prison: the mother of two children, after the first sentence was pronounced, her prison term was extended three times. Almost all the time behind bars, Palina was incommunicado. Her health worsened significantly while in prison.
